• STEP 1:

Choose Type of Perfume and Carrier Oil

There is a choice of perfume oil (oil-based) or eau de parfum (alcohol-based) which are both made at 20-30% concentration with essential oils, tinctures and plant extracts. They both contain the same botanicals, but perfume oils tend to stay longer on the skin with less projection (noticeable by others) and eau de parfum evaporates a little faster but with more projection. It all depends on your preference. There is an option to purchase both if you can't decide!
Our eau de parfums are made with organic sugarcane alcohol and perume oils are made with the choice of two organic carrier oils, sweet almond and fractionated coconut oils. Carrier oils are base oils used to dilute essential oils, making them safe for skin application. They help "carry" the essential oils onto the skin without causing irritation. Carrier oils are derived from the fatty parts of plants, such as seeds, nuts, or kernels, and typically have little to no scent of their own, allowing the essential oils' fragrances to shine through. Examples of carrier oils include:
Organic Sweet Almond Oil - Rich in vitamins, gentle, and good for most skin types.
Organic Fractionated Coconut Oil - Light, unscented, and non-greasy, easily absorbed by the skin.

  • STEP 2:

    Choose Fragrance Notes

Perfumes are structured in layers of different scent profiles called notes. These notes determine how a fragrance unfolds over time.

Top Notes (Head Notes) - these are the first scents you notice when applying the perfume. They are usually light, fresh, and evaporate quickly. Usually lasts 30 minutes to an 1 hour. Common scents are citrus (lemon, bergamot), herbal (mint, basil), light floral (lavender, neroli).

Middle Notes (Heart Notes) - these scents emerge once the top notes start to fade. They are often well-rounded and form the core of the perfume. Usually lasts for several hours. Common scents are floral (rose, jasmine, geranium), green (pine, juniper), spicy (cinnamon, clove).
Base Notes - These are the foundation of the perfume, providing depth and lasting power. They emerge once the top and middle notes have evaporated. Usually lasts all day. Common scents are woody (sandalwood, cedarwood), musky (musk, amber), sweet (vanilla, patchouli).
It's best to choose only one or two essential oils that correspond with each note to create the perfect scent.
We have over 60 varieties of essential oils to choose from.
Vitamin E is a natural anti-oxidant and is added to the perfume oil for its fixative benefits.

  • STEP 3:

    Formulation

Once the bases and essential oils are mixed, the formulation needs time to rest and macerate. This helps the scents meld and develop a more harmonious fragrance that will only get better with time. Perfume oils will macerate up to 1 week and eau de parfums need 2-3 weeks.
Keep the perfume away from direct light as much as possible to prevent oxidation, which can change the coloring and scent structure.
